Since I can't choose Lizzie Bennet Diaries since freakin' Lizzie and Darcy haven't KISSED YET (fingers crossed for tomorrow!!)... I already talked about this topic. Like, 10 months ago. All of those choices still apply. In fact, I was going to talk about Jim and Pam again. But... I already did. And you don't want to read something you already read. You already read it already!
Instead, let's talk about how JMU IS IN THE NCAA TOURNAMENT!
I can't help but be excited. I know it's sports and I really don't care all that much about sports, but I will always have a special place in my heart for JMU. I met some of my favorite people there. Like my husband. Without JMU, I wouldn't have this guy in my life. And that would be a tragedy.
And speaking of that guy and his tuba playing days, the JMU Pep Band has been getting some coverage for being, well, the JMU Pep Band. I mean, they're no Peppas, but they hold their own. Their big thing now is a cover of (warning, the video link included is reeeeeally random) Gogol Bordello's "Start Wearing Purple," as JMU colors are purple and gold. It pretty much rocks my face off. So, to celebrate our big win, START WEARING PURPLE.
Yesterday, while washing dishes, I serenaded my dog with the Perfect Strangers theme song. She seemed to enjoy it. She's also not very bright? She probably thought I had a treat. Or she's standing tall on the wings of her dreams.
So, today...
Not only is this the best cast on TV, it may be the best cast ever.
Parenthood.
This show is mah jam. It could've been so not this good, but the cast really makes it something else. They all have such chemistry together! And not just the couples, though Peter Krause and Monica Potter are superb together. The four Braverman siblings? Any combination of Braverman siblings? (Personally, I liked the recent pairing of Crosby and Julia to give us the younger sister over achiever and older brother slacker). The parents with their kids? The kids with their cousins? Mae Whitman with any person she talks to? It's just lovely to watch. Even Buzzfeed thinks so.
Of course, this is where I would show you all the videos of how this cast is the best. Sadly, there aren't many up on the 'Tube (copyright infringement, blah dee blah). But there is ONE. And it's worth your time.
Caution: an extremely RANDOM video-filled entry will commence.... NOW.
I'm kind of a title song junkie. I actually have 100 of the best title sequences loaded on my iPod (thanks, parents!), and I know the lyrics to A LOT of them. It's sort of one of my secret savant talents. Some of the ones I still remember all the words to and love in a very nostalgic way are below, though my number one choice isn't because of nostalgia or because I know all the lyrics (though I do). The reason I picked True Blood as my favorite title sequence is because it's sort of perfect. If you'd never watched one episode of True Blood, you'd know exactly what you'd be getting into just by watching this. Warning: somewhat NSFW, especially if you try to catch all of the frames (there are lots of body parts).
This one is a nostalgic favorite between me and my bestest bestie ever <3 p="">
This one? Yes! I'm positive that I will know this monologue for the rest of my life. I will be able to recite this on my death bed.
Hee!! Technically, this is another one that tells you everything you need to know about the show. I miss title credits like this, with the leads being zany and nonsensical.

Let's act like you don't know what I'm about to say. That was fun, right? All right, you wanna hear it here it go:
Pride and freakin' Prejudice, yo.
Confession time: I've never actually read the book all the way through. I KNOW I KNOW I'm terrible. However, watching this BBC mini-series is as close as you can get. I will also admit, I do love the movie more than the mini-series, which many would call a blasphemous statement, BUT I see this for all of its goodness and perfection. The first proposal, for one, is amazing in its awkwardness (see above) and wonder. I mean, this is the reason why Colin Firth has had such a successful career. It's this. If you love Colin Firth in anything (especially if you love him in Bridget Jones's Diary), then you owe it to yourself to watch this.
The Lizzy here takes a while to grow on you, but it's that pair of fine eyes that wins you over. Mini-series!Lydia is more ridiculous than ever (as is her mother who is so over-the-top), Mini-series!Mr. Collins is grody to the max, and Mini-series!Darcy sisters are properly awful. This Jane, though? Not the prettiest girl in the town. Not. At. All.
Honorable mention: the similarly plotted North and South from 2004. It's like P&P light, starring an extremely broody Richard Armitage. Thus, totally worth your time.
Dark and light. Night and day. Apples and... anti-apples. I'm a firm believer in understanding both sides of the lines. So, while I enjoy TV that makes you think and pushes the limits, I also like to have at least one show I watch solely to have some time to let my brain relax. I still think they are good, but it's more about being entertained than thinking the show is actually good. I've had many shows like this over the years, but this is my current guilty pleasure.
It's unbelievably cheesy, the CG is atroooocious, the acting is occasionally (?) spotty, but I'll be danged if I don't end up entertained by it every week. It's just plain old fun, and I'm a sucker for fairy tale retellings. It's got some of the same writers and producers from Lost, so I get a wee bit nervous that this will end up in the disappointing pile in a few years, but for now, I always tune in. I will always find you, Once Upon a Time. Here are a few reasons why:
i miss you, sheriff graham...
bloody pirate!
Charming and his grandson
It's also getting me to like Michael Raymond-James and forget his creepiness from True Blood.
OH HAI I totally forgot to update yesterday! Here's my excuse, are you ready? So, I went to the gym yesterday after work. I usually go to the treadmill but decided to change things up and ride one of the bikes instead. It took a little bit of oomph to get going, but after a while, it wasn't so bad. Somehow, I ended up being on the bike for about 45 minutes-- go me! And I didn't even feel that terrible! As the night wears on, though, my legs are like... UM, WHAT IS THIS MADNESS? And then as I tried to sleep last night, I was like Clair Huxtable after her aerobics class taught by her sister Debbie Allen.
Either way, that's my excuse. It's sort of fitting, considering I just posted all that stuff about the Huxtables earlier this week.
Anyway, so what are we at? OH, that's right, Favorite Female Character. Much like the male category, I have a few. Clair Huxtable, for one. That woman is F-I-E-R-C-E. And, of course, Buffy Summers. Amber Holt. Tami Taylor. Liz Lemon. Daisy Steiner.
There are two, however, that are my favorite of all favorites: Lorelai Gilmore and Veronica Mars. In looking through my blog, though, I've already written about both of these ladies. And in the same entry, no less. SO, to give you something new to read about, I give you a NEW choice for favorite female character.
Claudia Jean Cregg.
So many things I want to say about CJ. Basically, CJ is a goddess, a wonder, my spirit animal. She keeps up with Josh Lyman, with Toby Ziegler, with Leo McGarry, with the coolest president this country has ever seen, and she does it all with grace and awesomesauce. She's not afraid to say what she thinks, and she doesn't back down. Just watch these.
Nathan Young (played to perfection by Robert Sheehan), Misfits
I love Nathan because he is straight up hilarious (which we all know is the way straight to my heart), but I also love him because he has many, many layers. His humor sometimes hides his deeper emotions, though often his humor is just... him. He's a little bit of a sociopath, but in the nicest way. He's loyal and blunt and probably annoying as all hell, but he's also charming as all hell, which is why the other 4 delinquents keep hanging around.
As usual, my words cannot do justice to Nathan. The video below is full of Misfits spoilers and is also all kinds of NSFW (language-wise), but it's full of the funnies. If you find any of this to be even a little bit funny ha-ha, go to Hulu and watch the first 2 seasons of Misfits. In stories of worlds combining, Robbie here will be starring as my favorite character Simon Lewis in this summer's latest YA movie adaptation The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones. I'm excited and NOT excited for everyone to love him as I have loved him, and there will be joy.
